The Papanui Club
The Papanui Working Men’s Club consists of a restaurant, bar, gymnasium and conference rooms.
The original Club building was damaged during the Canterbury Earthquakes and the Engenium team was engaged to provide structural assessment consulting services and then structural engineering design services for the rebuild work.
The project included exposed structural timber, with a steel framed first floor for the restaurant wing. Extensive use of specific engineered Purple Heart timber was used in the façade, with Engenium developing joist details to achieve the Architect’s vision.
The Engenium team also developed a macro concrete raft system supported by deep piles specifically for the foundations.
